Little Salt Wash Trail
Project Overview
Little Salt Wash Riverfront Trail Connection is a completed recreational trail project in the City of Fruita consisting of approximately 0.86 miles (4,539 feet) of 10-foot-wide concrete trail constructed along the Little Salt Wash corridor, extending from the northwest corner of James M. Robb Colorado River State Park to north of Highway 50 at Gewont Lane. The project included design of a pedestrian bridge approximately and a cast-in-place concrete box culvert crossing at Salt Wash. The trail alignment was carefully coordinated to pass beneath multiple existing roadway bridges and through existing box culverts, requiring detailed grading and hydraulic considerations. Additional design elements included retaining walls near the railroad crossing and overall drainage design to accommodate site constraints and integrate the trail within the existing channel and infrastructure.
