2019 Cyclocross Race Campaign

River City’s Marc Kenney had a very successful 2019 cyclocross race campaign. Marc never finished lower than 5th place and won 8 out of the 10 races he competed in. He was undefeated in the West Slope Cross Cup Races and won the West Slope Cross Cup for the second year in a row. His other race wins included the Colorado State Championship (making him the State Champion for 40+ Cat 4s) and the last cyclocross race of the year, the Sandstone Cross. By winning the Sandstone Cross Marc earned enough points to win the state-wide Colorado Cross Cup and is the Colorado Cross Cup Champion for 40+ Cat 4s as well (the Cross Cup is based on the cumulative finishing points from each race over the entire season).

Cyclocross races test riders fitness, bike handling, and their ability to dismount, run with the bike, and remount using the terrain and obstacles (aka barriers). Marc running the barriers at the Talbot’s Orchard Cross in Palisade, Colorado.

Cross Racers have to decide if it is quicker to run or ride certain sections of cyclocross courses. The slick snowy conditions of the State Championship course turned this hill into a run-up.
